FRIENDSHIP MANOR’S SILVER CROSS HEALTH AND REHABILITATION PAVILION NAMED ONE OF TOP NURSING HOMES IN ILLINOIS
Last October, Friendship Manor’s Silver Cross Health and Rehabilitation Pavilion in Rock Island, IL received the highest overall rating of Five Stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Recently, they have been ranked among the top nursing homes in the state in a recent U.S. News & World Report and by Great Places, Inc., a senior watchdog group. U.S. News’s Best Nursing Homes profiles more than 15,000 nursing homes in the country and ranks them by state, using data and quality ratings from the federal government. The rankings are updated quarterly.
The rankings rely on information from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal agency that sets and enforces quality standards for all nursing homes enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid. Homes receive an overall rating of one to five stars from the government based on the number of stars earned in three categories: health inspections, nurse staffing and quality of care. With a possible score of 15 stars for the three categories, Friendship Manor received 14 stars. In Illinois, 1,200 nursing homes were rated. One facility received 15 stars. Friendship Manor, along with only fifteen other Illinois nursing homes received 14 out of 15 stars… the only facility in the Quad Cities to receive this high of a rating.
Ted Pappas Jr, Friendship Manor’s President, CEO and Administrator states: “We already knew that we’d scored Five Stars from our most recent round of surveys, and we knew generally how others had done, but to be honest we had no idea how we ranked in the State. This is quite an honor for us, and one that we are all celebrating.” Pappas went on to say, “These rankings are really the same compilation of data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which have been available online for some time at
www.medicare.gov, but still it is nice to have independent groups validate what we’ve known for some time, that being Friendship Manor’s Silver Cross is not just a nursing home, but a vibrant and thriving community.” Lori Warner, R.N., Director of Nursing at Silver Cross stated, “We are proud of our staff. They excel in areas that are critically important to residents and families – trust, dependability, compassion, respect and skilled training.”
